About Us
Pome came into the picture for me after struggling with my own personal health. After spending a few years struggling to get control of a chronic vascular condition that made me barely able to use my hands, I then got diagnosed with sleep apnea. I eventually underwent multiple surgeries to try to breathe better. Some days I’d feel great, but most days I felt pretty terrible.
I had been living in Salt Lake for a few years and spent a lot of time exercising and learning how to be a better climber, runner, and skier. I found myself injured a lot, often out of nowhere. I eventually found out I had an autoimmune disease that makes me especially prone to tendonitis and struggled to piece together how the changes I made affected my health, especially over longer periods of time.
I tracked my training and pain levels via spreadsheets, fitness data through a watch, and sleep with a ring. Cause and effect remained elusive. Not only that, the apps I used didn't really work together. I felt I had the data I needed, but I wasn’t able to do anything useful with it to get a better picture of my health.
I started talking to people and found a lot more people in the same boat. I realized that there was a vast amount of biometric data coinciding with a flourishing wellness movement. Everyone I spoke to complained of not having the tools they wanted.
Advances in tracking mean more data. More data means better diagnoses, better treatment, and better quality of life. Our mission is to help people navigate their health, live healthier lives, and get better healthcare.
